Start stockpiling K-series head gaskets     Tue, 11 Aug 2009 07:29:26 +0100
Unless the inswearance suddenly change their minds, I might be the proud owner of a very early S1 Elise in about a week's time or however long it takes the PO to get his personal plate off the car. I'm not sure if that's a smart move but I'm sick of looking at overdescribed sheds halfway across the country. ...

Good game, good game.     Mon, 10 Aug 2009 19:25:35 +0100
To quote Brucie. Anyway, I was bored this afternoon heading back home along the old pack road that runs parallel to the main road in these parts. So board I devised this silly game (needs satnav and an empty road). Look at satnav. Note distance to the next turning. Accelerate up to the legal limit then ...

Grimsby to Sandy in under 2 hours...     Mon, 10 Aug 2009 03:58:57 -0700 (PDT)
...not legally possible ;) Anyone else got good record times that are not legally possible? Another one, Knutsford to London (Southgate) in 1h54m ...

TOTALLY OT: Great MTB vid     Sun, 9 Aug 2009 14:40:26 -0700 (PDT)
As someone who used to ride this type of style about 10 years ago, this vid just blew me away. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z19zFlPah-o Just wait for the bit with the tree, just stunning! ...

What's the verdict on...     Sun, 09 Aug 2009 21:21:22 +0100
... using a Chimaera on the track? A Rover engined one, obviously. Or would it be cheaper and less stupid to just jump off Beachy Head? -- '88 Porsche 911 Targa '00 Golf TDI estate '99 Integra Type-R ...

HIDs     Sun, 9 Aug 2009 20:56:11 +0100
Okay, finally, the Saab has blown a headlight bulb. You need the hands of a small child to replace the bulb and if I'm going to go to this effort, I may as well get HIDs at the same time. Those who have replaced their headlights... have you had any issues so far? -- The DervMan www.dervman.com ...

Tech Edge O2 unit.     Sun, 09 Aug 2009 09:02:59 +0100
I've built a Tech Edge unit to interface a wideband Lambda sensor with my MegaSquirt. Neither of which is actually fitted to the car yet as I want to make sure everything works properly before doing so. According to the software everything is ok, I've flashed in the latest version and it calibrates in free air ok ...

When did these get this cheap?     Sat, 08 Aug 2009 20:54:19 +0100
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=300323626980 Mind you, they're probably very expensive when used on the track. -- '88 Porsche 911 Targa '00 Golf TDI estate '99 Integra Type-R ...

Another day (well, night), another kit car     Sat, 08 Aug 2009 09:01:23 +0100
As I am still quite taken by the idea of a lightweight kit car with a reasonable size engine, I went out to Bristol last night. For starters, if you want to go to Bristol, don't start from East London or Kent. Traffic was utterly horrible, it took me 4 1/2 hours out there and almost four hours back and that wa ...
