F type head bolt torque
Fri, 20 Apr 2007 10:03:46 +0100
Any rule of thumb for head tightening torques for a 1932 F type ? There are
14 bolts of 5/16 dia, because of the valve gear an open ended spanner is
best to use, so the sort of torque would be "turn by half a flat after
tight, or two flats etc. You know the sort of thing.

I intend to take the car over to France this summer and we will be
pulling a trailer, this will help the braking a little.
Firstly where is the best place to put it where it will not be
obstructing me too ...

Wed, 04 Apr 2007 21:17:43 +0100
My '73 MGB failed its MOT today.
Tester said that there is play in the inner track rod end joints. This
steering rack has done less that a couple of thousand miles, the rubbers
etc. are all in as new condition.
Looking in the HBOL, it seems that the inner joints are spring loaded
somehow? It says to tighte ...

Diagnosis please - 1970 - (1275) midget clutch
Sun, 25 Mar 2007 13:17:07 GMT
Further to my previous posting as it is a nice day I have relented and got
under the midget and found:-
1. The rubber boot on the slave cylinder has come off allowing fluid to leak
and there appears to be much too much spare travel on the push rod towards
the rear of the car.
2. I push the rubber boot back o ...

legal position on car towing
Sun, 25 Mar 2007 11:47:41 GMT
What is the current legal position about towing one car with another? I
haven't used my midget since last July when it leaked cllutch fluid.
Starting is likely to be a problem. At nearly 61 I don't get the same thrill
as in the past from crawling under cars - particularly ones as low down as
midgets! I want to ...

Fitting a 12V stereo to a 6V system
20 Mar 2007 05:03:06 -0700
Hello all,
i have just bought an MGB GT and it has the original 2 x 6Volt battery
system. How am I going to install a regular 12V stereo into this car?
Surely MG didn't isolate themselves from the car stereo market, or did
they?
Did they produce a converter of some description?
If you can give me some in ...
