E39 M5 - Power steering whine

Makes a whining / grinding sort of noise, mainly when the car is turning hard
right. Hoses have all been changed, fluid has been bled. Is it time for a
new power steering pump? I hope it's not the bloody Servotronic box, that's a
git to get to, and I imagine it's not cheap either. Car has 125000 miles. ...

Curious tyre sqeal yesterday

Headed off to the lake at 7am yesterday to persecute some carp at which I
failed miserably and only managed to catch a couple of skimmer bream. When
it went dead mid afternoon as the temperature soared I called it a day and
drove home. On the way back the tyres started squealing like stuck pigs on
left handers ...

Mk 2 Golf - Oil light on

I have an old (1989) Mk 2 Golf 1600 Auto that has done 130k miles.
Sometimes while driving the oil pressure warning light comes on dimly
or full on, and then goes off again. Also, the head lights and dash
lights often dim at the same time that the oil light comes on. The oil

I've acquired a Ford Fusion with 89000 on the clock.
The Ford Service Checksheet gives 150,000 or ten year to renew the cam belt.
Is this a realistic target or should I be looking to renew it sooner.

peugeot 307 fault

A friend has a petrol peugeot 307 about 3 year old.
The engine warning light has appeared on the dashboard display
along with a message reading "anti pollution fault "
They can drive the car ok and the performance seems normal but can anyone
tell me what can be causing the fault lights ?

I have a small hole around 3mm across in the centre section of my
exhaust just as it goes into the back box.
Car is goign to be scrapped in September/October as its value is around
¡ê300 and I have a new car coming.
In the interim , will Holts Exhaust Gun Gum and Holts exhaust Bandage do

How to rinse off UV die on a leaking car a/c system?

I have fitted a/c system to my '87 BMW from a wrecked car. It was filled
with oil, UV die, and R-12. Few days later it does not blow cold. Looks
like I have a leak somewhere, and my R-12 escaped.
I bought UV-lamp and goggles and it looks like my condenser has a leak,
and also a low side valve. But a/c shop spill ...

AstraVan clonk from nearside?

I've been working on a 1997 Astra Van 1.7TD that's been stood for over 2
years. (New track rod ends, rear cylinders, front disks and a couple of
brake pipes). Took it for a test run and notice a loud clonk noise around
the front nearside. There's no play in the wheel and like I say the track
rods are new. ...
