Marriage, Annulment or Divorce

I have a friend, a devout Roman Catholic, whose marriage broke down.
He wishes to remarry and find happiness with another partner but he is
not happy about getting a divorce because the RC Church disapproves.
He is considering an annulment but his partner feels this is somwhat
