URL confusion

Some time ago, I configured the server I use so that the HTML pages
like:

could be accessed using URLs in the format
http://www.westmidlandbirdclub.com/kidderminster/bodenham2008

More IE woes

Just had a wasted hour and a half with IE8
Seems it doesn't handle margin:auto the same as other browsers.
Can't waste any more time on the bloody thing so it's yet another
table.

Updated images not appearing

I have recently made several changes to navigation images on a site, not
held on the server I usualy use. I uploaded the replacement images (same
names) and html files which had other alterations to them but the previous
images were still displaying in IE & FF, mis-shaped where the html spec was
different.

Paypal button stops W3C validation

I've added a paypal donate button to a web page, using the code provided
by paypal. Now the W3C validator, which used to validate ok as strict
HTML 4.01 shows lots of errors.

prime use of the PNG-24

Recenent creation of a huge gradient image for a BG img has left me aware
that where the gradients are purely 0 or 90 degrees linear, you can have as
many colours involved and the superior PNG-24 will still beat the file size
of a JPEG [60] by 4-fold. I've got some sites to adjust.
Just thought I'd share that ...
