IE border madness

Here's a new one on me. I have:
* a nested unordered list
* no vertical margin between list items
In every browser except IE it renders as it should.
In IE, between list items at the same nesting level, it adds some
vertical white space.

what sort of pc experience the person who is going to be using it is or
isnt going to have .
To be on the safe side and to allow for people who dont have a lot of pc
