Tonight is another of the BT 21CN node upgrades - this time for London,
Watling St. (L-WAT).
This is a major node and will affect around 20% of our customers on
20CN and 21CN for over 3 hours just after midnight.
The good news is that this upgrade is expected to fix t ...

[Status] [info] Alternatives to BT
Thu, 13 Aug 2009 08:30:52 +0100
Posted at 2009-08-13 08:27 BST by AAISP
We are in talks with Be/O2 about alternative broadband links that we
can offer to customers so that they do not use BT 20CN or 21CN.
Exactly what service offerings we will provide and how they will be
priced will be announced later when we have sorted all of the technica ...

This does indeed look line all 21CN lines went off at the same time,
but IPSC lines are OK. We are chasing with BT as they have not come
back!

Any alternatives to Zyxel?
Wed, 12 Aug 2009 17:46:31 +0000 (UTC)
Need to replace my P660R-61C as it is not playing ball with 21CN :-(
But I use the Zyxel feature of multiple types of NAT to map my 8 WAN
address to various internal boxes. I have read manuals for most of the
common modem/routers and it would appear to be a Zyxel only trick. I
don't have enough addresses to tu ...

[Planned] THN switch upgrade
Wed, 12 Aug 2009 07:17:18 +0100

We are planning to upgrade network switches in THN. This has been on
the cards for some time as we are not convinced the current switches
are 100% sane. We'll confirm the exact date nearer the time, but this
weekend is looking likely at present, possibly Saturday.

21CN
Tue, 11 Aug 2009 18:04:41 +0100
A colleague was upgraded to 21CN (only) a couple of weeks back - and did
not want to. However the change had already been scheduled in BT
without notification and he didn't want to pay ¡ê15 to cancel it.
However his fears are now being realised. He is still in the middle of
an ADSL outage that started at 03: ...

[Status] LNS s/w upgrade
Tue, 11 Aug 2009 15:42:09 +0100
Posted at 2009-08-11 15:41 BST by AAISP
Given the importance of the change next Monday moving all lines to the
new LNS we may do a s/w load during the week meaning a PPP restart
during the night. As usual it would only take a few seconds.[IMAGE]

BRAS's other than BT's
Tue, 11 Aug 2009 15:17:50 +0100
I'd always assumed that BRAS ws something unique to BT, but while
tracerouteing a South West Bell IP address, somewhere near Houston I
went through a router which featured "BRAS" in its IP name.
So we are not alone?

Whilst working on the issue with BT BRASs in Watford we managed to
cause a problem with the 21CN LNS and sessions are reconnecting. This
was not planned, and the cause is being sorted now. We have gained some
insight in to where the BT BRAS issue lies though.

Premium service on ADSL2+
Mon, 10 Aug 2009 11:50:33 +0100
I'm currently on ADSL MAX with "premium service", which I mainly got for the
higher upload speed. In about a week I should be on ADSL2+, so upload speed
will no longer be an issue. I need to decide whether or not to cancel premium
service.
I see that premium service is supposed to provide priority access to b ...
