SMTP outbound domain verification
Mon, 17 Aug 2009 07:41:53 +0100
Does smtp.aaisp.net.uk check the "From:" header?
My primary email account is with Google, but their SMTP gateway requires
encryption/authentication.
I occasionally send emails (from scheduled tasks for instance) and the
encryption is beyond my programming abilities (my system is Windows, so
I doubt that I ...

Newsgroup Access
Sat, 15 Aug 2009 11:43:59 +0100
Has the plug been pulled? I had forgotten that yesterday was when
Gradwell's service was supposed to finish, and yet it seems to be
working fine this morning. Has there been a stay of execution or was
the switch to A&A servers more seemless than predicted?

[Status] [ongoing] BT 21CN issues
Sat, 15 Aug 2009 11:22:47 +0100
Posted at 2009-08-15 11:07 BST by AAISP
We have so many issues now that I have decided to put in one status
page to summarise.
These are all, as we understand it, generic 21CN issues and not AAISP
specific.
I'll update with news as we get it. We are chasing this several times a
day at several levels.

Thanks to Peter Gradwell for news
Sat, 15 Aug 2009 07:40:16 +0100
Thanks for the news service Peter..
Andrew tells me we are close to having our own news server now. We have
one peer that seems ready to connect and are trying to get a second one
set up ASAP. Obviously until we have the first one connected we are not
going to be able to make the server available.
But watch t ...

What time does news.aaisp.net.uk close?
Fri, 14 Aug 2009 13:01:52 +0100
Does anyone know what time Gradwell will be switching off
news.aaisp.net.uk? I have looked on the Gradwell web site but cannot see
anything.
I know that I am a bit late switching news feeds. My newsreader provides
a mechanism for migrating from one server to another but this requires
simultaneous access to bot ...

Microfilter for ADSL2+
Fri, 14 Aug 2009 12:15:33 +0100
Can anyone recommend the best microfilter to use for ADSL2+? Should I get one
that fits into the socket faceplate?
I currently use an ADSL Nation XF-1e, which gave me 7.3Mbps on ADSL MAX but it
only gives me the same on ADSL2+. I'm hoping a better filter will allow me to
get better speed from ADSL2+.
My no ...

Posted at 2009-08-14 00:21 BST by AAISP
Just to remind people, we have changes in the back-haul for 20CN lines
scheduled to start Monday. The plan is that this will mean late Monday
night (around 2am) we will have a PPP restart and lines will be on our
new BT links and LNSs our end, and that will be all. Reconne ...

If this works, then posting from eternal works for me.
Had to modify my newsreader, as it only sent authorisation when it
got back an error saying it was required, whereas eternal needs it
sent without asking at connect time, or you don't get to see most
newgroups.
Also, eternal is only running at around 1/4 ...
