DVR / HDD - buy now or wait?

Hi,
I currently have a Philips DVR which looks like it is giving up the ghost.
I've been looking to upgrade to the Pioneer DVR-930H-S, which has a HDMI
output (I've got a Pioneer Plasma, so thought this would be a good hook up).
But I'm not sure about next generation HD DVDs. Will the Pioneer be able to

Humax 9200T fault

Anyone come across this fault with a 9200T please?
When I go into the recorded programmes menu nothing shows up, even
though I know there are programmes there. The hard drive capacity
indicator confirms that the drive is only 85% or so free.
Turning off and on doesn't help - still no recorded programmes lis ...

Humax PVR9200T Record menu strangeness

This morning I woke my 9200T out of standby and went into the Record
menu to check out the disk usage. All but the top two options
(programmes and schedule) were greyed out and unselectable!
I tried again a few hours later and all was back to normal. Has anyone
