Sky / Topfield RF clash

I have just bought a Topfield 5800 PVR and cannot get RF to pass through both
the Sky and Topfield without severe interference that looks like massive
attenuation. All channels are poor (severe fuzz/snow), and some that are clear
with one box, are almost unintelligible with both.
