Moving from Sky to Freesat

My in laws are giving up SKY to save the ching. They are looking at
Freesat and I don't have that much knowledge so any help would be
useful.
I assume the sky dish and cabling can be used a simple bolt on ?
They have Sky+ in two rooms, again I assume here, that both boxes will
be useless or can they simply be ...

New card but no new EPG

Had the new card this morning. Swapped cards and it authorised OK and plays
programmes OK. However I don't have a new EPG. Does it take a fair time to
appear?
