TWOT: automated checkouts

I was in Morrisons today.
Four items so I thought I'd go through the 'quick-service'
automated checkouts.
Four items:-
2 x 3ltr milk
One roll masking tape
Sunday Times
The machine tells me it needs operator approval for my purchase.
Eh? Can't think what harm you can do with a roll of masking tape.

Numpty question: screw-on connectors

I moved into this flat a couple of years ago. At the time of looking
around pre-purchase I noted the amount of cables coming in through
(well, past) the windows but forgot to ask the previous occupant about
them. They're terminated in a mixture of Belling-Lee and F connectors
and are, of course, all unlabelled ...

Philips DTR220 channel list problem

Since DSO1 at Winter Hill, my Philips DTR220 (software version 1.65.54) has
had a problem with its channel list.
When I rescan, the box refuses to retain any of the channels on pre-DSO MuxC
(formally on UHF60, but now on Mux1's old UHF56 frequency until DSO2).

Samsung IDTV woes

I had a call today from 'an acquaintance' with a Samsung CRT IDTV, model
number WS-32A116D, the problem was Welsh and missing channels, after getting
into the rather peculiar menu I did a factory reset (strangely its memory

Virgin1 Freeview off-ar in early hours?

Hi all,
has anyone else noticed that Virgin1 has not been transmitting around
3-4am recently.
I've not been awake at that time but I set my toppy to record Outer
Limits and Nnja Warrior a few days ago and it seems nothing was
recorded.
There's nothing on the V1 web-site.
Any ideas where I could find out wha ...
