Rubbish Reception in East Midlands
Tue, 10 Nov 2009 20:19:46 -0000
Hi All,
I live in the NG2 area of Nottingham (south) and cannot get a decent
reception on my Freeview box, is this just a fact of life or is there
anything I can do to improve it? Looking at the external aerial I would
guess it's pointing in a NW direction, is there another transmitter I could
align with th ...

Numpty question: multiple aerial "Y" splitters
Mon, 09 Nov 2009 18:00:45 +0000
Hi all,
I have my own numpty questions. When using Y-splitters such as the
010-0115 on this page:
http://www.satcure.co.uk/accs/page15a.htm
It says "Note: all 2-way splitters pass approximately 40% of the signal to
each output."
For the SkyLink compatible splitter, it says "As with all passive
splitters, this ...

BBC HD Simulcast
Mon, 9 Nov 2009 10:12:56 -0000
Last week there was a programme (I can't remember which) transmitted as a
simulcast. I was surprised to see that the HD prog was nearly 2 minutes
delayed compared to the SD. I'd always assumed that a simulcast was just
that, with perhaps only a second or two delay due to encoding differences.
However the 2 mi ...

Poor audio on BBC HD for Strictly Come Dancing
Mon, 9 Nov 2009 09:12:28 -0000
Anybody noticed poor audio on Saturday's SCD from Balckpool on the BBC HD
channel? It seemed very compressed and the background sounds squeezed out
the main commentary and music at times. The audio was fine on SD.

Ever since the first phase of the DSO on 4th Nov my Panasonic recorder

I've been through the autoscan setup process about 6 times since 4th Nov
but still the message appears every time I switch the recorder on.
I've checked to see if all ch ...

Freesat in a flat
Sun, 08 Nov 2009 20:24:47 +0000
I live in a block of flats with a shared dish, each flat has a single
wall outlet which I currently use for Sky. I am about to terminate my
subscription to them and was wondering if this shared dish will allow
to receive Freesat HD?

automated checkouts
Sun, 08 Nov 2009 17:11:23 +0000 (GMT)
Bought a filler 'knife' at B&Q - and the automated checkout required
permission to sell it to me. If that's regarded as a potential weapon, so
is practically any tool.
But Tescos self service checkout needs authorisation for Becks no alcohol
beer too.
