TOT: fake ?1 coins
Wed, 24 Sep 2008 02:58:22 +0100
They tell you to look for uneven lettering on the edge. I have one here that
has no lettering on the edge! There's just a diamond pattern, and that is
very uneven. Also, the queen looks like a bloke!
Anyone else seen any dodgy attempts at forgery?

Long saga and a rip-off?
Tue, 23 Sep 2008 18:59:05 +0100
I was in Surbiton over the weekend at the in-laws. At a birthday get
together I got chatting to their elderly neighbour who several months ago
had a shiny new Triax Unix 52A on a 10' mast fitted to his chimney. The mast
has a Fringe box which I has assumed was a splitter or filter as signal
strength is high th ...

Latest television monitor display technologies to hit the shelves
Mon, 22 Sep 2008 21:39:27 +0200
Back on to topic of digital television, what do the group's newsreaders
consider to be the the superior technology of cutting edge monitors?
Weighing in at the hefty price of USD 6999, reminiscent of early model
plasma televisions which cost as much as a small automobile, there is the
Mitsubish Electric laser ...

Samsung DVD player annoyance
Sun, 21 Sep 2008 19:00:43 -0700 (PDT)
It's a Samsung DVD-V6800 VCR-DVD combi, and it looked like a bargain
at 69ukp.
But its DVD player seems incapable of producing a normal interlaced
output at 50fps - instead it crudely deinterlaces everything to 25fps
progressive, and then sends a "film effect" signal to its SCART
outputs, with no movement between ...

Neatly sidestepping the possibility of a former friend's joke, which
was that all sound engineers are deaf anyway because they spend their
lives listening to PAs which are too loud (RIP Robbie) ...
I think they think they are trying to achieve a balanced mix, just
like they would be with a modern band. My point ...
