DAB dropping out at Sewards End Essex

Several months ago I bought a Bug bedside radio (DAB).
The reception was marginal and would occasionally go bubbly, but always come
back after 5-10 secs.
The signal strength meter showed only 2 to 3 bars out of 5.
Eventually I got fed up with it and bought a DAB aerial.

5*'s after-prog. trailer etc. announcements

For some time, I've (probably) been boring the group about the excessive
levels of the announcements over the end credits, on five and its
sisters especially. These announcements have usually been over quite
loud end credits music (e. g. Star Trek, CSI), and have been wound up
(the announcement, not the music) ...

Anyone know the technical details like the data rate?

BBC1, 2, 3 Disappeared on Freeview (South Manchester)

Hi.
I hope this isn't too much of a stupid question. Last night, several
channels went dark on Freeview; the above, as well as Sky3 and perhaps
others. Now Sky3 is back, but BBC1, 2, 3 are still absent. BBC4 is ok.
I've bounced the Freeview box, retuned SEVERAL times, but still
no luck.

What?s happened to FM radio in the UK ?

I recently took a trip back Up t?North t?other weekend whilst
listening to FM radio in the car.
All the independent local stations have practically disappeared it?s
either Galaxy, Heart, Smooth, Magic or some other bland semi national
playing more or less the same middle of the road stuff.
