BBC1, whoops!
Wed, 2 Sep 2009 15:55:30 -0700 (PDT)
Something somewhere didn't go according to plan on BBC1 analogue this
morning. This is a photo I took of it:

(The blooming is from my phone camera's lens being a little fogged
up.)
The source of the signal was Long Mountain and I checked it on two

patronising digital advert
Mon, 31 Aug 2009 19:14:54 +0100
I've just seen an advert on BBC-1 for the government's digital switchover
help scheme. This is intended to help those over 75 make the switch from
analogue to digital TV. The advert showed a garulous old fool who seemed to
lack social awareness and common sense. The young relative and the young
engineer exchan ...

George Gently
Fri, 28 Aug 2009 23:58:30 +0100
Strange artifact at the end of George Gently tonight - the end credits
started out very juddery. Then came good. Almost like they'd switched off
the filmic effect.

OT: Projector repair
Fri, 28 Aug 2009 19:29:31 +0100
Pal has one of those awfully expensive SIM projectors which as got
diagonal lines crawling all over the picture. What I'd describe as RF
interference. It's being fed via the VGA input. The internally generated
test cards are clean. My colour bar generator plugged into the composite
input gives the same fault.

just for completeness - BBC East covers all of the lump that sticks
out into the North Sea, and in reality is considered to be anything
East of the M1. Analogue television historically has always been a
problem for co-channel interference from Holland, so signal strength
has always been feathered to reduce ...

What on earth is on this aerial
Tue, 25 Aug 2009 17:59:49 +0100
Possibly showing my ignorance of TV Aerials here but, researching
bungalows in the West country to move to, I came across this:
http://www.webbers.co.uk/pdfs_public/MIN090197.PDF
Never mind the funny cracks about moving to Minehead, look at the
bungalow photo. What on earth is what seems to be a coil of spa ...

OT: Music from the 1920s, 30s and 40s on BBC local radio
Thu, 20 Aug 2009 05:46:10 -0700 (PDT)
I'm sure Bill mentioned a programme with Dance Band music from the
1930s the other month - what was it Bill?
...and does anyone know of anything similar available in other areas?
Now some of it is appearing / has appeared on iPlayer, it should be
easier to listen to these shows out of area.
My own suggest ...
