Rules question

A batsman straight drives down the field and the bowler manages to get a
slight touch on the ball. The ball then hits the umpire standing at the
bowlers end and deflects back onto the stumps whilst the non-facing batsman
is out of his ground. Is it out?

Forgotten Cricketers

Over the years there have been many fine cricketers- yet some are virtually
forgotten (some?)
We all know the Hobbs, Bradmans etc- even the Ponsfords and Sutcliffe's. I
am thinking of players who were pretty good performers (loose definition).
What about players like Vernon Ransford?

Another go at timed out

Twenty / 20 will start real soon, and I'm still thinking about timed
out again.
My feedback from this years exam commented on my handling of a timed
out appeal.
The batsman has 3 mins to be ready to receive a delivery, if he is
longer than 3mins then an appeal if made will be valid and a batsman
will be dismi ...

and batsmen so inept at playing the swinging ball that they constantly
aim for one side of the pitch and play the ball to the other side? God
alone knows what the likes of How would have done if they had faced
bowlers such as Len Coldwell. ...
