Compression then Distortion, or Distortion then Compression?
Sun, 15 Nov 2009 16:24:31 GMT
Do you guys generally have compression before or after distortion?
I was putting the compressor first, but having read something on the Keeley
site I swapped it around - I really like the way is makes the distortion
rock solid, but not what it does to the noise floor.
I am officially stuck on the fence with ...

Moore, Thin Lizzy sounds.
I'm looking at getting one of the Vintage V100's as it's a decent
price from here http://www.guitarbitz.com/475.htm

Fretless friendly bass strings
Sat, 14 Nov 2009 19:37:53 +0000
After the bass session on the saturday morning in the portland hotel on
monday morning, I realised that I was lacking a fretless bass and an
acoustic bass. So I decided to compromise and get a really cheap
fretless acoustic bass.
So those strings on gregs not-so-cheap fretless bass that felt smooth -
what were ...

Can anyone identify these strings?
Sat, 14 Nov 2009 15:36:10 +0000
Hi guys. I bought a used electric guitar and I've been impressed with
the strings it came with. I want to restring my other guitar with the
same brand and gauge but... well, I know the gauge from a micrometer
(10-49s) but not the brand. The only distinctive feature is a red
covering over the strings beginning ...

Combo or Amp and Cab?
Fri, 13 Nov 2009 19:53:35 +0000
I maybe in the minority here, but I am still lugging my Marshall 4x12
around after 25+ years. Yes, I now have a truss!
I like the versatility of being able to swap amp heads if I fancy a
change and I like a bit of "trouser flap" !
I do unerstand the the portability etc etc of the combo. I just never
found one ...
