Sky v Virgin Media

I am currently with Virgin Media for Telephone & 2MB Broadband. I am
charged ¡ê30 for this service + call cost of around ¡ê5 per month. I also
subscribe to Sky+ with Sports for ¡ê36 per month. Total ¡ê71 per month.
I am thinking of switching to Sky as I think web/email access is slower
with Virgin and I think ...

anyone else get the postcard from sky this morning?
apparently anything programmed to record on channel 4 from the 19th november
onwards, won't.
you'll have to re-set your sky + on the afternoon.
on the plus side it also says channel 4 hd is on the way - it will require a
viewing card but not subscription.

New Sky+ box failed within 1hour!

Must be a record.
A dead Amstrad replaced with a Thompson.
Live pause makes the lights come on but when you press play they spin but
the pix stays paused, until it says "recording interrupted". Any recordings
don't work, if you try and watch them you get "recording interrupted". If

Registering a 2nd hand skybox.

If get hold of Sky Box from somebody else that is only a few months old
(i.e potentially still within their 12 month contract and presumably
should remain with them for the balance of the 12 month period) and try
and register it with my Sky viewing card, are Sky likley to refuse to do
it ?
