O/T Antivirus software

Just setting up a pc for my mum, and it has come with the usual mess
of aol and norton on it. I am trying to get rid of it all and instalk
AVG free which has always treated me fine, but in the install process
it tells me another antivirus program is running. I cant see one,
unless it is referring to windows defend ...
