DAB tech question
Fri, 04 Sep 2009 16:19:10 +0100
I've had a Roberts DAB radio for about 18 months. The pause button
was advertised as storing 20-30 minutes worth (sorry about the
vagueness). Recently however it seems to be limited to 10-15 minutes.
Is this a fault, or have they upped the bit rate or whatever on
Radio7?

Remembering Guardian-BBC's war crimes

"We know the methods of rule employed by the Bolshevik
dictator in Russia itself from, for example, the
writing and speeches of the Prime Minister himself
during the last twenty years. We know how the Red
Army behaved in Poland in 1920 and in Finland,

UK "PM" programme - line-age rather than lin-e-age
Mon, 31 Aug 2009 09:46:29 -0700 (PDT)
Twice while discussing Muhammad Ali checking his family history the
female presenter pronounced lineage as line-age (i.e. like the two
separate words) rather than lin-e-age.
Is this a valid pronunciation? It's certainly not familiar.

I Guess that's why they call it the news.

I don't know if this is a replacement for the 'New Quiz', I sincerely
hope not, it's not a patch on the 'News Quiz'.
Is Fred MacAulay the new darling of Radio 4, he seams to be on
everything (comedy wise).

Daniel Hannan is a traitor
Sat, 15 Aug 2009 16:13:27 GMT
Why doesn't this professional troll Hannan stay in France if he likes it so
much?
Or better still, fuck off to America. I wonder how much he's being paid for
his stay across there.
In any case, his passport should be seized and his British nationality
stripped from him.

is Radio 4 racist?
Mon, 10 Aug 2009 05:39:29 -0700 (PDT)
I think it is. There are any number of Asians featured here, but the
only time you'll come across an Afro-Caribbean (other than Benjamin
Zephaniah) is in some afternoon drama about drugs or gang crime in the
inner cities. And Chinese, Filipino, and dozens of other ethnic
minorites just don't get a look in.

It was claimed (by chairman Parsons, I think) that 'Phi Phi' is one

Keith Waterhouse
Fri, 7 Aug 2009 23:46:16 +0100
Yesterday R4 ran a retrospective on Keith Waterhouse following
his retirement as a Daily Mail columnist. For years this enfant terrible
of the left has dominated the Daily Mail. He was always entertaining,
often thought-provoking, and always alert to the absurdities of modern
life.
It would've been great if ...
