Cruisin' the Formats with Johnnie     Sun, 26 Mar 2006 07:54:38 +0100
'Johnnie Walker - Cruisin' the Formats' is the latest book from Bob Preedy, already well-known as the author of 'Radio Caroline North - Rockin' and Rollin'' and 'Radio 270 - Life on the Oceaan Waves'. Rather than being a biography of JW, Bob's book charts Johnnie's broadcasting career in the context of radio dev ...

Is anyone else listening to Vine... ?     Wed, 22 Mar 2006 12:59:06 -0000
Under the guise of Budget analysis and coverage, I've never heard such lidicrously biased anti-Conservative diatribes in all my years. At every interval, Shankleman has propounded New Labour policy and presented only the most negative interpretation of a Conservative response...which hasn't been heard yet ! ...

Hope this isn't a taste of what's to come...     Sun, 19 Mar 2006 15:06:15 -0000
Listened to the always excellent Arthur Smith at 1:00 pm yesterday, but stayed on for The Powder Room for the first time. Oh dear. Where would they be without the word 'poo' ? Absolutely abysmal. Where's The News Huddlines when you need it, even an archive episode. Another Saturday slot bites the dust. ...

The Phonographic industry, the group representing record companies in the UK, are to make it impossible for radio stations to stream audio outside the UK. I know this is possible with Radio 4 Listen Again programmes by accessing the Real Audio file, but I can't find a way of doing this for Radio 2. Does anyone know whether it is possible? -- Hungerdunger To reply by email, remove the MARX from my address ...

R2 for R4 sufferers     14 Mar 2006 02:33:23 -0800
Last night, R2, about 11 pm. Who were those guys? Sounded like a couiple of Daily Mail readers had barricaded themselves into the studio. Taking the p*ss out of all that award-winning Mark Lawson stuff, talking about the films not to see, books not to read - Remains Of The Day, Dances With Wolves etc ...

Ed Stewart     Sun, 12 Mar 2006 17:23:47 -0000
Opened his Radio 2 show at 5.00 pm today with "Tragedy" by the Bee Gees and said it was an entirely coincidental choice. He then thanked everyone for the many emails and letters he has got so say sorry he is leaving. Then the surprise - it was not his choice to go - and he will be back on British Radio but ...
