In the post this morning is a bit of junk mail from a company telling me how
much I can cut my energy bills by installing their Solar Energy System.
Have they looked out of a window recently .... where the *%^# am I supposed
to get the bloody solar from? I'd be better off buying a ruddy water wheel
or a wind ...

Driving up the Farnham Road out of Guildford yesterday I was struck by the
proportion of horse chestnut trees that seem to be suffering from this
bacterial disease that's been reported over the past couple of years. I
reckon 90% or more appear to be affected. There must be hundreds in the
