Malt loaf

Has anyone found a simple way of slicing malt loaf? I love the stuff but
find it almost impossible to slice without it deforming into a sqidged
lump. Is this just a deliberate thing by the manufacturer to make us buy
the dearer ready sliced ones?

am happy to see that at least some people are now coming to realise this
