A forum for teachers and pupils ????
5 Dec 2006 07:38:42 -0800
I am considering putting a forum on my website. The idea is this - as
many schools aready use my PageZ site, it would be nice if the folk
that use it got the benefit of a forum. Problems - you let kids loose
on such a system and it easily gets abused. So I was thinking that if I
set one up I would let any teache ...

Deploying Quicktime
Mon, 04 Dec 2006 10:41:33 +0000
I was wondering is anyone here has a ready-made Quicktime msi for AD
deployment they could pass my way...
I've tried to make my own, but I don't seem to be having much luck, even
following the "foolproof" instructions on appdeploy.com.
Thanks! ...

3 Dec 2006 04:34:20 -0800
I am a 15 year old web developer that is going to be starting a new VLE
project with my friend. It is going to be made using PHP and MYSQL. The
main thing that we will be thinking about whilst creating it, is making
it look attractive to the user and easy to use. It'll be open-source
and we will open cheap techn ...

Sun, 3 Dec 2006 03:01:51 -0000
I wouldn't consider the Gimp as an alternative to Serif Photo Plus !!!
hardly any one in the professional graphics world uses it, it's a nasty
cheapskate solution !!!

Java script in school
30 Nov 2006 09:35:06 -0800
Hi
I'm just doing some research into schools' attitudes towards Javascript
and java applications.
Do they actively ask for Java when they buy computers? Do they actively
ask NOT for Java?
Do they allow pupils to use Java-based applications?
If anyone could give me their experiences, I'd be grateful.

humanopinion.org

Hopefully some people here will see the potential of the
humanopinion.org project.
Today, we do not record human opinion in a centralised manner which
produces a concrete data set of human opinion, that is free and
accessible to everyone. Allowing everyone to raise questions and
record their opinions. We ...

Anyone have AQA computing module 1 June 05 exam paper?
Wed, 29 Nov 2006 07:42:17 -0000
I've put together my annual revision pack for my Y12s who take this exam in
January. Trouble is AQA don't list the June 05 paper on thier site
(apparently in case it is used for mocks) and, as my groups sit it in
January, I don't have a spare copy of the June one from last year.
The paper changed dramatically ...

Support desk video
Tue, 28 Nov 2006 20:08:29 -0000
Can anyone point me in the direction of the hilarious support desk video
which I am sure was recommended in this forum many years ago. It featured
the normal abuse of a user and the suggestion that the users daughter could
solve the problem.

Network down
Tue, 28 Nov 2006 20:05:56 -0000
Today, our network ground to a total halt during the afternoon. First the
Internet access was lost, then stations slowed right down, froze and would
not reboot.
I checked the servers which showed over 90% system idle and then saw that
the main network switch (HP procurve 5308 with 6 modules - 4 modules with
