Lancasterian Project - 1970s/80s - Manchester

Does anybody in this group know of, or was involved in, a project in
the 1970s/1980s, which I believe was known as the Lancasterian
project, and based in Manchester, UK ?
The early work was based around the Commodore PET, with custom
modified programs and custom made connectors, to support single-switch

VLE data protection issues ?

Is it a breach of the DPA to allowed staff to login to the VLE from any IP address including from countries with little data protection and allow them to download pupil data or should it be restricted to uk only ?

How times have changed!
I thought the Acorns were pretty bad (remember them?) but at least they've gone out of business.
Also the early Windows 95 machines that took about 10 minutes to start up... now they were crap, too.

updating a word document - sort of

and save it on their own profile, and type answers into the document.
I want to be able to update my document, and theirs automatically
without them loosing their answers.
I dont know where to start.
