MBP latch problem

Noticed last night that the lid on my 2008 Santa Rosa MBP 17 doesn't
latch shut. If I look closely, when it's nearly shut the magnets in
the base correctly pull out the two catches, but they don't seem to
*catch* properly.
I'm loathe to take it in under Applecare as I've swapped a HDD and
replaced the white ap ...
