Preview - printing half-up (i.e. inverse of two up)
Sat, 11 Oct 2008 18:40:08 +0100
I've made frequent use of the inherent N-up facility of Preview
(and other Mac applications) when printing. What I'm now trying
to do is print "half-up", i.e. print each page of PDF across two
pages on the printer.
Have I missed something obvious because I can't see a way to do it?

Reinstall Tiger - get rid of crud?
Sat, 11 Oct 2008 16:49:32 GMT
If I do a fresh reinstall of Tiger (I guess via Archive & Install as if it
were a new OS?), will this get rid of orphaned Library stuff - Application
Support/Prefs/etc - or should I go through & weed out everything by hand
first?
Cheers ... Mark

Booted from FW drive - how can I 'see' internal HD?
Sat, 11 Oct 2008 07:02:06 -0700 (PDT)
I need to get stuff off my old HD, which I took out of my iMac about 3
years ago when I thought my computer problems of the time were caused
by it (in fact it was the dodgy capacitor problem - motherboard
replaced by Apple at the time). This old HD has been sitting in a
drawer since then. I have now put it back in ...

Spotlight comments for a specific file: where are these stored?
Sat, 11 Oct 2008 11:20:18 +0100
I find this feature useful. If I was to transfer to a windows machine, then
back to a mac, would it retain the information? (Is it written within the
file or a hidden file in the same directory. There are a bunch of files that
start with a [.] that are hidden in Mac OS X, but not Windows)
Thanks

Optical Character Recognition

I want to buy the top-end OCR software. I want to digitise my old
dissertation. Accuracy is more important to me than speed.
Thanks
