Backlight/Invertor trouble - need laptop repair recommendation

My 2 year old Dell laptop has developed a
red/pinkish tint and goes completely dark after a few minutes. If I
look closely I can see a very feint image of the desktop on the
screen. I am pretty sure its the backlight or invertor. Does anyone
here have any recommended laptop repair places ...

Hi folks,
Got a Sony Laptop (VGN- S4XP), just bought a Sony Bluetooth headset (BT30Q).
Pairs fine, but there are no services - therefore no chance of me using to
listen to audio.
Any pointers on how to add the services??

AC Adapter Overheating?

I have a Sony Vaio laptop (PCG-FR105) and the AC adapter that came with it -
PCGA-AC19V3 - I noticed it has started to be very hot to touch after in use
for about 30 to 45 minutes.
I don't recall remember it to be hot in the past but is this something I
should be worried about?

AMD Turion 64 x2 Dual Core

If you take a basic celeron M 1.5ghz processor and stack it against an AMD
Turion 64 x2 Dual Core, how much extra performance would I get from the dual
core? Say if you give it a percentage figure more than the celeron M ?
Reason I ask is I am about to get a new laptop. My old laptop has the
1.5ghz celeron ...

Hope you clever chaps can help me. My daughter is 12 next week and is
desperate for a laptop. She plays the Sims 2 a lot and has all of the
add-ons for it, along with chatting with her friends on MSN. I found this
on the Tesco site and wonder if it will be good enough given that the Sims 2
uses quite a lot ...

HP Pavillion ZD8000 need smaller power pack.

I have a HP Pavilion ZD8000 which is fine, the problem is the power
lead/pack is really heavy and large in size. I have started to do more long
haul
flights and its a struggle with both weight and size getting my hand luggage
past the checkin desk jobsworths.
The mains box thing is around 15cm x 6cm x 4cm and ...

Dell C840 Sound / Windows XP

Wondered if any of the group could help with this one.
I've got a bit of a bizzare problem with the sound (or lack of it) on my
Dell C840 - the problem is that Windows (XP) reports the "Crystal WDM
Audio Codec" has a problem (This device cannot start") and so doesn't use
it (it has the ! in a yellow circle on ...

Dropped laptop

Dropped laptop - just 2 ft onto carpet whilst in carry-case, but won't power
up. I notice that the power jack is now very slack in it's socket almost
slack enough to fall out under gravity. Is this likely to be a simple
repair I can do myself?
