Online storage providing syncronisation to several users
Tue, 09 Sep 2008 18:52:47 +0100
Hi,
I need to provide an online storage facility on a Debian server for a
small group of people and we will be storing some Word documents, as
well as some MP3 files on the system.
I first thought about Subversion for doing this, but on my test
machine it doesn't appear to do exactly what I want (though I am ...

emails hacked?
Mon, 08 Sep 2008 11:07:38 +0100
Yesterday at home, I received several emails, one of which was
from a close friend. The recipient machine does not delete emails from the
server. I also download them at my office and at that they are deleted from
my Internet Provider's server.
When I downloaded them at my office this morning, all had genuine he ...

Calendar/contacts list recommendations wanted - syncMl capable
07 Sep 2008 20:06:46 GMT
I'm looking for a simple Calendar and Contacts list for Gnome (doesn't
have to be a Gnome application really, I run fvwm) which can do syncMl
synchronisation.
There are a couple of full-blown productivity suites that do what I
want but they're too big really, I don't want E-Mail and/or groupware.
Any suggesti ...

Fedora 9 vs ntpd
Sun, 7 Sep 2008 11:35:38 +0000 (UTC)
Just a heads-up in case you haven't found this yet.
ntpd is another victim of hibernate/suspend since Fedora 9: at hibernate/
suspend it gets shut down and isn't restarted when the machine wakes up.
This is in Bugzilla.
I'm using a cron.hourly script to restart it - this is easier to do than
forcing anacron ...

So following on from the recent NAS thread, something I've been meaning
to do for some time is replace my own home/office server... Although
recently it decided to force the issue by throwing not one, but 2 disks...
It was an Athlon 2000+ mobo - 2 internal 80GB IDE drives (Maxtors)
and an external 6-disk SCSI ar ...

Fedora status
Sat, 6 Sep 2008 12:19:28 +0000 (UTC)
Today I'm still seeing 'no updates' for F8 and F9 from 'yum update', but
can't find anything on the Fedora website about the current state of the
disinfection exercise.
Can anybody confirm what the current status is and that online updates
are still disabled.
