Hi All,
This is my 1st post so if I get it wrong sorry.
We have a Virgin Media Cable Modem connected to a Linksys Wired Router
and then connected to 3 PC's.
Do we need to have software firewalls running on the PC's?I need
to set up File Sharing on all 3 PC's.They are all running XP.

Not achieving giganit speeds

I have a Dlink DIR-635 router, and just bought a Dlink DGE-528T PCI card.
Both bits of hardware a gigabit lan ready
How come when I connect it all up, the connection still only shows 100Mbps
and not 1000Mbps
Is there anything else I need to change/check?

Completely paranoid question I know, but it occurred to me that if a
wireless modem-router was programmed to store details of people's
browsing habits and send these to the manufacturer (perhaps after
being leaned on by the NSA, or as part of a deal with a market
research agency), since the user has nothing ...

I have set up two netwoks which work OK but with a couple of problems
One network is using a Netgear modem router and I have my office desktop and
laptop on that plus another PC which has a netwrok switch and four PC's
connected to it.
