wgr614v7 router and dm111 adsl2+ modem both netgear
Sat, 15 Dec 2007 20:29:51 GMT
Dear All
I have the above gear, and while I can connect to the internet via the
adsl2+ modem when I try via the router I can't. I have read that the
adsl2+ modem I am using doesn't support 'NAT'. What I need to do is set
the router as DHCP and disable the modems DHCP (by selecting the full

MB per second transfer which they say is still slow. However I cant get
anymore that 1MB per second transfer. All my PC's have GB ethernet and my

Temporarily disconnect LAN from Internet?
Wed, 12 Dec 2007 18:57:24 +0000
[Because of a baffling technical problem affecting my use of Usenet,
even if I can post this message at all, I may not be able to follow
up any replies, for the time being.]
As a newcomer to broadband, I feel rather nervous, knowing that I'm
now constantly exposed to the Internet, and not knowing clearly what

[OT] Weird - please excuse test post
Wed, 12 Dec 2007 10:34:08 +0000
I've been trying for hours to follow up a post in another thread.
An earlier attempt to start a new thread also failed. Yet, test
posts to scot.test, rec.puzzles.crosswords, uk.telecom.broadband
all succeeded. Obviously I must be doing something very stupid!
But what?

Tue, 11 Dec 2007 17:14:29 -0800 (PST)
I have Virgin broadband. As I need a new wireless router, I thought
it would be nice to reduce the number of cables/plugs and get a
combined modem/router. Although the virginmedia website list a few
ASDL modem/routers, it is unclear if they will work on my current (ex
NTL) connection.
Can someone please clari ...

One final (I hope!) newbie question:
Today, I started trying to set up my new LAN and ADSL connection,
using a Netgear router*. Mostly, it's going OK. To my surprise,
my daughter's WinXP laptop is fully visible on the LAN, for the
first time (unlike the times I tried to connect it to my Win98SE
desktop using ...

Solwise PL-85PE & Linux
Sun, 09 Dec 2007 15:07:53 +0000
Hi:
I'm confused about if this device will run on Linux. Some sources say
you can, others say M$ only. Has anyone here used it with Linux?
TIA
