XP can see win2k but Win2k can't see XP

I have 2 computers connected by a wired router. One is WinXP
proffessional andthe other is windows 2000.
I have assigned IP addresses to each and can ping each machine with no
problems. In My Network Places, winXP can see Win2k but not itself, and
win2k cannot see winXP, only itself.

Does anyone know of freebie software to speed test (throughput) a home lan?
Done manually, by sending a large file & timing it is cumbersome (although I
have some very interesting figures and variances).

Access files on non-domain PC from domain PC

XPPro. I want to use a domain client PC to access files on a
non-domain PC which is connected via a 2nd ethernet port on
the domain PC. How do I go about this (or is it not do-able?)

losing Internet connection when hooked up through router

Hi does anyone have any ideas why I am getting dropped/cut outs in
broadband when connected through a Router but not when I plug the Ethernet
cable straight into the Ethernet/Network socket on PC?

I think there was a thread some weeks ago about turning the
firmware-butchered Sky badged 834GT back into a regular Netgear DG834GT ??
Was it just a case of doing the normal Netgear flash with the current
firmware or are there any Gotchas??

my default gateway is 192.168.0.1
why does my router also state that I have a default gateway of
a.b.c.1 where a.b.c.d is my (or the router's) WAN IP?
