Duplicate IP address on Windows XP
Sun, 21 Sep 2008 07:04:48 -0700 (PDT)
Hi,
I've just got this Sitecom WP 130 wireless range extender working but
there's a strange problem.
If I use the old wireless PCMCIA card that I have, everything is
fine. If I use the fancy 54mbps MIMO one, I get a message about
"duplicate ip address". I've tried re-starting the hardware to see if
there's ...

Problem with WEP security and a sitecom wireless range extender
Sun, 21 Sep 2008 05:01:22 -0700 (PDT)
Hi,
I have a wireless network configured with 128 bit WEP security. The
laptop upstairs doesn't always work very well so I have bought a range
extender made by Sitecom (WP 150).
Everything works fine with no WEP enabled on either the wireless
router or the range extender. Once I enable WEP on both, I can't ...

Testing lan networks - utility
Sat, 20 Sep 2008 14:09:35 +0100
Can anyone remember the recommended tc/ip - udp testing software from this
group a year or two back?
Freebie software that ran under a dos box with one machine set to run as a
server and another as client.
Very useful, I used it to verify a home lan, inc. ethernt over mains,
throughput with realistic results.

I've 3 PCs at home, a fon point and now a voip device (linksys 3012 if
I ever figure out how it works, I could do with some advice on getting

dg834pn wireless router to the origo router/adsl modem and disabled
dhcp. It works fine but I'm a bit conce ...

2) Asus Eee 901 running XP Pro and Zone Alarm.
I bought the 901 recently, stripped Xandros off and installed XP. It
runs fine. The network wizard has been run on each machine a ...

Homeplug Speeds
Sun, 14 Sep 2008 20:21:45 +0100
I am considering a homeplug to extend my current home network.
The latest version supports speeds up to 200mbps but I am wondering the
benefits of this speed; at the moment no broadband even exceeds the
slower 85mbps standard.
BBC's Iplayer plays fine over my own adsl, which is not particularly
fast, so ev ...

Help with wifi on BT Business Hub
05 Sep 2008 14:37:59 GMT
I need some help with my BT Business Hub (it's a 2Wire router).
It all works OK except that I'm confused by the WiFi set up and, as I
only use it occasionally, I am lost every time I try to use it.
Firstly why does it have (apparently) two sets of WiFi settings, one
is called "Wireless Settings - BT BusinessHu ...

Belikin wireless network card
Thu, 4 Sep 2008 10:40:42 +0100
I have just installed a wireless network card after previously using a USB
wireless plug-in device. It connects successfully and has maximum signal
strength, but the signal keeps dropping out after 30 - 60 seconds and then
has to re-connect. It works perfectly during the period when it is
connected. There a ...
