hi,
i'm looking to buy a new PSU (from maplins?) for my ASUS A7A266 MB,
which has a 20-pin connection between PSU and MB, so i'm guessing its

Western Digital HDD waranty
Sun, 7 Sep 2008 08:13:29 +0100
The HDD in my desktop PC has died. I was in the process of ordering a new
one, when I noticed on the WD website that it comes with a 5 year warranty
(it was bought in 2004).
However, upon entering the serial number to check the warranty status it
stated "No Limited - Warranty Product was originally sold to a ...

the machine failed to start, and reported something about no boot sector or
similar.
The HDD was partitioned as follows: 30 GB for windows only, and 170 GB for
programs/data/docs/etc. When I inspected the drive (used it as a slave in

My computer won't start
Sun, 07 Sep 2008 00:41:58 GMT
My wife's computer stopped working the other day. She would push the power
button and nothing would happen. I guessed ot was either the power button
or the power supply. I bought a new case but it didn't start up. Next
thought it was the motherboard, so I bought a new mother board. Still no
power. Any ideas? ...

Networking question
Sat, 6 Sep 2008 12:56:36 +0100
Hi all,
I`ve got a few machines that I`d like to connect up via gigabit ethernet,
and then attach this to a network running at 100meg/sec. Obviously I need a
gig ethernet port in each machine, and a hub to plug them all into, but will
it be likely to cause a problem/slow things down if this hub is then
conne ...

Purchase of MS Office 2007 from Amazon 3rd party seller
Sat, 06 Sep 2008 10:01:47 +0100
I buy quite a lot of stuff on-line, most of it satisfactory.
On the odd occasion when things turn out not to be as described, I
usually manage to negotiate a return and refund.
Last week I was looking for a copy of MS Office 2007 Ultimate that I
could afford. There are several on eBay for around the ¡ê200.00 mark ...

"Warranty void if seal is broken"
Fri, 05 Sep 2008 16:35:26 +0100
Interesting issue came up - a neighbour bought an Acer PC from Asda
(M1640) for under ¡ê200. Nice little machine, with a neat little 16"
widescreen monitor running at 1366x768 with a little more available on
the slider.
Of course, you only get Vista Home Basic for that price, no dial-up
modem, and only 512 MB m ...
