Is it worth me upgrading?

By which I mean would I see a *noticable* improvement in processing
time and (with modest-but -newer video card), better graphics
rendering times?
I am way out of the loop on these things now - last upgrade was quite
a few years ago. Main use is running language compilers, some (not

Vista laptop won't boot - possible to determine installation key?

Hi there,
I have a customer's laptop which won't boot. It won't boot to safe mode - it
gets as far as offering the option - and I've tried running chkdisk on it
with no improvement. The Vista install CD offers the option of using a
system restore point, but says none are found.
