ibook G4 and virtual PC

Hi
Well been extremely happy with my ibook G4 but have finely struck a
problem.
I am going on a course and some of the course work is on PC DVD and I
need to use it at home, although I have tried virtual PC it just runs
far too slow to be workable.
Is there anything better or am I better buying a cheap laptop ...
