Use of someones "Nickname" on a t-shirt?

Just checking the legal position on using someone's nickname on a T-Shirt
(both with / without use of an image)
Now im assuming that use of a nickname is fine by the sheer number of
unofficial Pete Doherty / Liam Gallagher T-Shirts that actually use the
person's name and image on them.
